I guess my cheap litter picker upper decided it couldn't pick up another piece of litter. I can relate. It is amazing how much garbage litters our streets and sidewalks.
Garbage here, garbage there, garbage everywhere.
Why do people leave their litter for others to clean up?
I can understand how some garbage happens by accident, but a lot of our litter problems are due to human beings who live like pigs.
Pop and beer cans, plastic water bottles, beer and booze bottles (many of them broken), gum (Wintergreen is popular) and candy bar wrappers, fast food goodies (cups, wrappers, containers, straws, condiment packages, etc.), cigarette butts galore, dog crap, and so on and so on and so on and so on.
Now I understand why we have landscaping -- it does a good job of catching, and to a large extent hiding, the trash that we live with.
Mother Nature seems to enjoy blowing our litter around. She deserves to blow over litter-free land.
Why can't businesses clean-up their surrounding areas?
Today, I noticed the parking lot in front of a Peter Piper Pizza littered with large garbage items. I went into the restaurant and spoke with the manager about sending out an employee everyday to spend twenty minutes picking the large trash items out in the parking lot. She gave me a weird look and indicated that the parking lot was not their responsibility.
Why are the bus stops full of litter?
I propose the following: If somebody keeps their bus stop clean, then they get to ride the bus for free.
Oh well, tomorrow (Monday), I will get a new litter picker upper and I will clean-up a the trash that surrounds a nearby Star Mart. Before and after pictures will be taken just like I did with Chuys. [I did more clean-up at Chuy's today. I think they should pull my business card for a free lunch again.]
